The Good Women

27th April 2024

It’s the 1960s, the world is changing. Protesters take the streets, hippies celebrate free love, and a young band called “The Beatles” is rising to fame. Not in conservative Switzerland, where women did not even get the vote until the 1971.
Bette, star of a regional TV cooking show, and Trudy, a housewife, are about to change that.
“The Good Women” is a funny, bold and romantic new play inspired by a true story – coming from London’s Off-West-End to Bradford for one night only!

“A fringe play which thinks big” – Salteron Arts Review
” The poignant two-hander depicts burgeoning love against a backdrop of political struggle. The romcom plot balances witty humour, social injustice & emancipation.” – Fringe Biscuit

Nikky Smedley played LaaLaa (the yellow one) in the original series of Teletubbies for six years – that’s a lot of custard for a grown woman to get excited about. Come and hear how she got the job by dressing as a bistro table; what it was really like inside one of those (surprisingly large) Tubby suits; how the NooNoo really worked and why children loved the show so much.
