Rock of Ages

The Bradford Players present Rock of Ages
In 1987, the legendary Bourbon Room in West Hollywood embodies the gritty heart of the Sunset Strip. Led by laid-back impresario Dennis Dupree and his cheeky assistant Lonny, the once-thriving music venue faces demolition threats from scheming developers. When aspiring actress Sherrie crosses paths with dreamer busboy Drew, a romance unfolds amidst the chaos. To save the Bourbon Room, Dennis enlists rock icon Stacee Jaxx for a farewell show, but Stacee’s colossal ego wreaks havoc. Amid anti-demolition protests, Sherrie seeks refuge in a strip club, and Drew falls into the clutches of a boy band. Can Lonny, the “dramatic conjurer,” rescue the iconic venue and its entangled relationships? “Rock of Ages” is a vibrant homage to classic rock, featuring ’80s hits like “We Built this City,” “I Wanna Rock,” and “Don’t Stop Believin’.”

Confessions of a Teletubby

19th June 2024

Arguments and poo! Sex and swearing! Blood, sweat, tears and giant rabbits! Life on the set of Teletubbies might not have been quite as you imagined…
Fresh from sell-out shows at Edinburgh Fringe, Confessions of a Teletubby lifts the lid on what went on behind the scenes of one of the most globally successful TV shows ever.
Nikky Smedley played LaaLaa (the yellow one) in the original series of Teletubbies for six years – that’s a lot of custard for a grown woman to get excited about. Come and hear how she got the job by dressing as a bistro table; what it was really like inside one of those (surprisingly large) Tubby suits; how the NooNoo really worked and why children loved the show so much.
